[G.R. No. 132726.  June 10, 2003]

PEOPLE vs. CASTRO

EN BANC

Gentlemen:

Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated JUN 10 2003.

G.R. No. 132726 (People of the Phils. vs. Jessee “George” Castro, Jesus L. De Los Angeles and Edgardo E.Reyes @ “Ompong”.)

In this Court’s decision, promulgated on. 23 July 2002, appellants Jesus L. De Los Angeles and Edgardo E. Reyles a.k.a. Ompong, were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of being accomplices in the crime of kidnapping for ransom and were each sentenced to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua. It would appear, however, that the names of two of appellants were inadvertently written as Edgardo, Reyes, a.k.a. Ompong, and Jesus de los Reyes.

WHEREFORE, in order to rectify the apparent clerical error, the Court RESOLVES to correct -

(1)      The title of the case to-

“PEOPLE OF THE PHILS. vs. JESSEE ‘GEORGE’ CASTRO, JESUS L. DE LOS ANGELES and EDGARDO..E. REYLES © ‘OMPONG’.”

-and-

(2)      The dispositive portion to thus read:

“WHEREFORE, the decision of the regional Trial Court of Cavite, Branch 88, in Criminal Case No.129-97, is AFFIRMED with MODIFICATION in that appellants Jesus L. de los Angeles and. Edgardo Reyles, a.k.a. Ompong, are found guilty as-being accomplices in the crime of kidnapping for ransom and are each. sentenced to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua. The award of actual damages by the court a quo is sustained. Costs de oficio.”

Very truly yours,

(Sgd.)  LUZVIMINDA D. PUNO
