Campaign for non-sexist language intensified

CHAIRPERSON INSTEAD OF chairman. Husband and wife instead of man and wife. “A big job” instead of “a man’s job.”
Intensifying its campaign for the use of gender-fair language, the Supreme Court has approved an administrative circular directing all justices, judges, and judiciary personnel to use non-sexist language, like the examples above, in all official documents, communications, and issuances. The circular was pursuant to a Civil Service Commission memorandum circular which encourages the use of nonsexist language to promote gendersensitivity in the bureaucracy. (Re: Use of Gender-Fair Language, AM No. 06-8-21- SC, September 5, 2006)
